Bulk image downloader for the whole page
PicTrawl lists every image the page can actually load, lets you filter out icons and banners, and saves your pick with tidy names and folders. Free, no sign-in.
What PicTrawl does
- Reads the page you are on, including images that only appear after you sign in.
- Takes the largest candidate from
srcsetinstead of the thumbnail the page shows. - Finds CSS background images, inline SVG and images injected after load.
- Filters by width, height, format and keyword, then merges duplicates.
- Saves into its own folder using a naming template such as
{site}/{index}. - Keeps watching the page, so lazy-loaded images appear in the list as you scroll.
How to use it
- Install PicTrawl in Chrome or Edge.
- Open the page you want and click the toolbar icon; the window scans it immediately.
- Filter, select, then press Download. Files land in your Downloads folder.
Why images go missing in other downloaders
Most pages do not put the real file in img src. They ship a small thumbnail there, put the real sizes in srcset, and load the rest only when you scroll. Background images are not in the DOM at all - they live in CSS.
PicTrawl reads the DOM, all srcset candidates, computed background images and the browser's own resource list, so it sees the files the page really fetched.
It is still bounded by what your browser is allowed to load. Images behind a paywall, or a login you are not signed into, stay invisible - and PicTrawl will not pretend otherwise.
Limits and responsible use
- No DRM, paywall or login bypass. Encrypted or protected media is out of scope.
- Nothing is uploaded: scanning and saving happen inside your browser.
- Only save images you own or have the right to use. Copyright and each site's terms still apply.
Frequently asked questions
Is PicTrawl free?
Yes. No account, no sign-in, no daily limit. The browser window shows one closable sponsor slot to cover development.
Does it work on every website?
On most public pages. Browser internal pages (chrome://, extension stores) cannot be read by any extension, and images behind a login need you to be signed in.
Where are the files saved?
In a PicTrawl folder inside your Downloads directory, organised by site. The folder and the file name template are both editable in Settings.
Can it download video?
No. Video is a different problem - that is what HLSMate, our HLS/M3U8 downloader, is for.
